We're sure Mercedes Benz doesn't condone such behavior, but movie fans will soon be able to watch an exciting car-chase scene featuring the award-winning 2008 C-Class model squealing, smashing and sliding around the streets of London. National Treasure: Book of Secrets hits theatres this weekend, and the Mercedes-Benz car chase scene is one of the largest ever filmed in London.

Helping to create the scene were as many as 40 stunt people, 70 support vehicles, 50 extras and 9 cameras. Six C-Classes were used, many of which heavily modified to accommodate camera rigs and other demands placed on stunt vehicles. The entire process took over 4 months, with stunt drivers testing the car first on various surfaces to ensure choreographic perfection once the cameras started rolling. In order to allow the cars to slide and skid, Mercedes engineers were on hand to disable the machine's various dynamic safety mechanisms.

"We did take after take after take - thankfully the Mercedes held up wonderfully," said producer Jerry Bruckheimer. "London has so many one-way streets, and there are so many things that can go wrong, but the C-Class handled it. The great ability and agility of the car really helped."

Book of Treasures stars Nicolas Cage and opens this Friday.
